Under this alliance, commercial production of paddle agitators has commenced at a state-of-the-art facility in Gujarat, positioning RED-GMM among the first movers to locally manufacture and supply this critical equipment for CBG plants in India. Lightweight loads can be installed using the simple ‘Clix’ mechanism with the fischer light channel system FLS.

The European Technical Assessment (ETA) for the fischer FUS channels certifies the products’ proof of usability under fire exposure according to stringent requirements. This ETA 21/0140 is based on the European Assessment Document (EAD) 280016-00-0602 for pipe support systems. Additional products and systems by fischer retain their load-bearing capacity long enough to give people time to leave the building safely in the event of a fire. Safety is ensured by fire protection test reports in accordance with the criteria of the German Guideline on Conduits (LAR) based on MLAR 2015 for installation in escape and rescue routes. The test reports further certify a fire resistance rating of R30 to R120 as per EN 1363-1/ F30 to F120 under DIN 4102-2. Fix points and sliding elements complete the range. Coordinated system solutions capable of absorbing the thermal expansion of pipes cover all types of loads, from lightweight to heavy pipe systems.

COPTERS (Coffee Pulping Water Recovery System)
 

The expansion of the coffee industry has raised awareness of the environmental impact of coffee processing, especially the problems with waste management and excessive water use. For every kilogramme of coffee beans, traditional coffee pulping uses about 20,000 liters of water to get high quality parchment. The Coffee pulping water recovery system redefines industry sustainability standards by lowering this requirement to an unprecedented 500 milliliters per kg of clean coffee.

The COPTER System treats and purifies pulping wastewater using cutting-edge fine particle shortwave dissociation technology, eliminating impurities at the elemental level and enabling water reuse. By treating enormous quantities of effluent, the system not only helps with regulatory compliance but also makes it feasible to reuse clean water, significantly lowering the environmental impact of coffee production. COPTERS offers coffee growers an economical and environmentally responsible solution that also increases profit margins by drastically reducing water usage, providing high grade bio nutrient for the coffee plants and also gives an option for carbon mitigation including the carbon credits.

Scalene Coffee Research Organization LLP (SCRO) is one of the research wings under Organization De Scalene Foundation (ODSF) headquartered in Bangalore. Consolidated Financial Highlights for the Q2 FY25:

1. BFIL registered a robust revenue growth of 60.1% YoY and revenue from operations stood at Rs. 2,228.7 Mn in Q2FY25 compared to Rs. 1,392.2 Mn in Q2FY24 because of the constant focus on client addition and continued demand for the specialized engineering products.

2. EBITDA grew by 116.5% and margins expanded by 763 bps from 21.6% in Q2FY24 to 29.3% in Q2FY25 owing to increase in scale of operations and increased demand for heavier products which tend to yield better margins.

3. PAT grew by 106.9% and PAT margins improved by 489 bps from 16.7% in Q2FY24 to 21.6% in Q2FY25.

The new unit progress at Belgaum continues in full swing. The company is on the verge of commercialising the first phase of the new manufacturing campus and it will drive the next leg of growth.
 

The company has a strong order book for the existing infrastructure and the planned infrastructure is expected to commercialise in the coming quarters. The 32,000 tons of machining capacity will be fully utilised in terms of the order book and the forging output from the initial commercialisation also has clear visibility to fulfil the capacity of the Mercedes Benz production line as well as the machining capacity expansion which is underway. The company also has clear visibility for 72,000 tons of forging capacity with agreements in place in highly specialised domains of Railways, Defence & Aerospace. We have acquired and introduced the first 7 Axis CNC machine in our facilities in H1FY25. 
 

We have significantly reduced the working capital cycle from 137 Days in H1FY24 to 106 Days in H1FY25. This had a transformative impact on the company’s financial health and operational efficiency. By optimizing the inventory management, enhancing receivables processes, and streamlining payables, the company has achieved a more balanced and efficient working capital structure. Enhancing receivables management has directly improved liquidity, allowing the company to maintain a robust cash position. The reduction in debtor days means that funds are available for reinvestment, reducing the need for external financing and associated costs.
 

Overall, these enhancements have not only stabilized the company’s financial position but also enhanced its competitive edge in the sector.
 

The successful reduction in debtor days from 177 Days in H1FY24 to 119 Days in H1FY25 has had a transformative impact on the company’s financial health and operational efficiency. The company has significantly improved its cash flow and is a positive cash flow company as H1FY25.

TIL Signs Partnership Agreement with Snorkel Europe; becomes Snorkel Sales & Service Partner in Northern and Eastern India, Nepal and Bhutan

Shibaura Machine India (SMI), a subsidiary of Japan’s Shibaura Machine, the leading manufacturer of high-precision injection moulding machines in the world, has inaugurated its Unit 2 factory, adjacent to its existing factory in Chembarambakkam, Chennai, India. Built with an investment of Rs. 225 crore, the new facility is all set to expand SMI’s manufacturing capacity in the country.

SMI has a world class facility in Chembarambakkam that manufactures about 1200 injection moulding machines and auxiliary equipment in a year. The machines find their applications in automotive, electrical, household & furniture, material handling, medical, packaging, preforms, PVC, toys, writing instruments, and other industries. The company has a growing customer base in India and over 45 countries in North America, the Middle East, East & West Africa, and the SAARC region. With the new factory, the manufacturing capacity of SMI will be increased to 4000 units a year in a phased manner.

SMI began its operations in 2012 with the takeover of the plastics machinery business of Larsen & Toubro founded in 1990. The company has laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new manufacturing facility at a sprawling 11+ acres, adjacent to its existing plant in November, 2022. In the next 3-4 years, SMI is expected to create new jobs, increasing the team size. In addition, about 50 MSME vendors will be developed to support the capacity expansion.

An external assessment confirms that the FAZ II Plus service life of 120 years is ideal for infrastructure projects and structures designed for a long-life span. Regarding applications in seismic regions, the assessment (ETA) covers seismic performance categories C1 and C2, both with and without the FFD filling disc for filling annular gaps, depending on the diameter.
 

In addition to aborted holes, compliant installation (ETA) can be carried out. The assessment also covers nuts in accordance with ISO and verifies higher fire resistance values than the predecessor product, with temperatures of up to 1,350 °C with a fire duration of up to 180 minutes according to the RWS fire curve.
 

Users can process the FAZ II Plus bolt anchor in holes created with a hollow, hammer or diamond drill using pre-positioned, push-through or stand-off installation, depending on the situation. Installation is quicker and easier as there is no need to clean the drill hole. The cone bolt is pulled into the expansion clip by tightening the nut, expanding firmly against the wall of the drill hole. The anchor is then able to carry loads immediately. An additional Dynamic Set makes it easier to safely install dynamic applications. FAZ II Plus M16-24 is therefore an efficient fixing solution under dynamic loads with few load changes.

PMTX and FactEQ 2024 kicks off at Pune International Exhibition and Convention Center

Fischer Undercut Anchor FSU
 

Heavy steel and facility constructions, nuclear power plants, refinery projects, power stations, infrastructure projects, and the oil and gas industry benefit from the self-undercutting FSU undercut anchor made of galvanized steel, which is ideal for applications with high load and safety requirements. It was made for heavy-duty fixings to anchor steel structures, heavy pipe systems and industrial machines as well as many other indoor fixtures and attachment parts in cracked and non-cracked concrete.
 

The European Technical Assessment (ETA) provides safety during fastening applications in cracked concrete (option 1). The plug is also approved for seismic applications in categories C1 and C2, meaning it can be used in areas prone to earthquakes. It is also a safe choice in the event of fire (R120 fire assessment) or for fastening installation systems such as extinguishing systems (VdS sprinklers) It is simple and easy to install. Two different undercut anchor versions enable push-through (FSU-P) and pre-positioned installation (FSU). The anchor is placed into a drill hole created with the FSU-SD stop drill bit using the FSU-ST setting tool. Upon cleaning the drill hole, the anchor is placed with the FSU-ST setting tool. The anchor self-cuts into the undercut, creating a flush connection.
 

Thanks to this perfect flush fit, the FSU reliably transfers the forces and anchors into the substrate almost without expansion, achieving an extremely high load and safety level. Its six cutting teeth and the self-undercutting principle enable precise and powerful placements in concrete and make installation fast and secure. The low expansion forces allow very low edge and axial spacing without spalling and provide maximum safety and ultimate flexibility for all applications, even in the event of strong crack formation and wide crack widths in seismic areas.
 

Another advantage is the special plastic element that fixes the FSU in the drill hole, preventing the anchor from falling out of the drill hole and making overhead installation simple and safe. Convenient setting depth markings on the plug and setting tool (FSU-ST) provide a quick visual assembly check while guaranteeing additional safety. The DSU-DT disassembly tool can be used to quickly remove the anchor without a trace, if required. Product data can be identified and read using the DMC (Data Matrix Code) on the anchor. The code can easily be scanned using the fischer PRO app, so that all the information about the scanned product can be viewed directly in the app. Users can download the ETA and additional data in the download section. This feature guarantees flexible and accurate transparency and allows the data to be stored.

Although diabetes is a global health concern, its burden is more evident in developing countries like India. India is considered the diabetes capital of the world, with over 101 million people living with disease, as per recently published the Indian Council of Medical Research–India Diabetes (ICMR-INDIAB) national cross-sectional study.¹

The company’s largest division, fischer fixing systems, once again made a growing contribution to the success of the Group of Companies with a two per cent year-on-year increase in turnover. Innovative new products and systems, consistent internationalisation and a comprehensive range of services for various customer groups had a positive effect on the company’s economic success.

The past financial year was also highly successful thanks to the company’s collaboration with Jürgen Klopp, one of the world’s most successful football coaches and fischer’s new Brand Ambassador as of early 2023. The successful collaboration between Jürgen Klopp and fischer will continue in 2024, with the second marketing campaign having launched in late November 2023, with further events to follow.

Driving digitalisation in the construction industry

The company also proved to be successful with its digital offers. fischer’s customer-oriented services optimise the planning, construction and operation of buildings in the entire industry. Its services comprise digital solutions such as the innovative fischer BauBot construction robot, Building Information Modelling (BIM), automated construction and connected fastening products on the Internet of Things. Lower workload in Automotive due to e-mobility

Despite the issues caused by political factors, the company division turnover increased by five per cent.

fischertechnik – success through simulation model

In 2024, the toy manufacturer fischertechnik is set to continue its successful trend of the past year. Despite the challenging conditions in the industry, fischertechnik recorded an increase in turnover of ten per cent. This year, the division will be launching new design parts and a new colour concept for its toy products. A new and groundbreaking modular simulation model was launched last autumn in the industry segment with fischertechnik’s Agile Production Simulation. The new teaching material concept has proven to be particularly popular in STEM classes.

International success

‘The Bearing Being’ sculpture at SKF’s Pune Factory
 

The sculpture is a tribute to all employees who have been the foundation of SKF’s 100-year journey in India. Crafted from scrap metal and cast iron - including bearings and conveyor belts sourced from our factories, the sculpture starts at a width of 10 feet at the base, rises to a height 18 feet and tapers to a diameter of 6 feet. Cement reinforced concrete panels compose the base of the sculpture.
 

Manish Bhatnagar, Managing Director at SKF India, said, “We are thrilled to have worked closely with Subodh Kerkar to bring this monumental installation to life and sincerely thank him for this amazing work. Lobb on wheels

The spark that ignited their entrepreneurial spirit was a common dissatisfaction with the status quo. They saw inefficiencies, gaps in the market, and opportunities waiting to be seized. Fuelled by their shared vision, they decided to channel their energy into creating a solution that would not only address existing problems but also redefine the way people approached a particular aspect of their lives. Jayaram says, “We had tried several approaches to solve the issues and few failed also. We believe in "try and fail first" approach. In 2019 as per our investors' suggestion we stuck to few markets and few products, this approach gave us encouraging results and made a good number of transactions. Started replicating the same by opening several branches which include adding more employees.”

The team spent countless hours brainstorming, conducting market research, and refining their concept. Through the ups and downs of countless iterations, they honed in on a unique value proposition that set them apart from the competition. The idea was innovative, and they believed it had the potential to make a significant impact. Infact Venu Kondur CEO spent considerable time with fleet owners & drivers, Venu says, “To get a feel of their daily routine & business I spent three days with truckers day & night.”

With the concept solidified, the next hurdle was securing funding to turn their vision into reality. Undeterred, the team pitched their idea to investors, leveraging their passion and belief in the project. It wasn't an easy journey, but their persistence paid off when they secured the necessary funding to take the first steps toward building their startup. Says Venu, “Again this market is huge, traditional brokers with micro market presence are our competition. I don't see that as a competition and our value added services make a huge difference. There is enough meat for everyone to create a large business.”

Armed with financial support, the team worked tirelessly to develop a prototype of their product or service. The team faced technical challenges, logistical hurdles, and the inevitable setbacks that come with any ambitious undertaking. However, each obstacle was met with resilience and a commitment to learning and adapting.

As the prototype took shape, the team shifted their focus to marketing and building a community around the brand. Lobb recognized the importance of not just selling a product but creating an experience for their users. Social media, word-of-mouth, and innovative marketing campaigns became their tools to generate buzz and interest in what they were creating.

Finally, the day arrived when Lobb was officially launched. The response was overwhelming - positive reviews poured in, and users embraced the solution with open arms. The startup quickly gained traction, and its success exceeded even the team's most optimistic expectations.

With success came new challenges - scaling operations, managing increased demand, and staying ahead of the competition. Yet, the team's foundation of passion, innovation, and resilience carried them through. They continued to adapt, evolve, and expand, turning their startup into a formidable player in the industry. Says Venu, “Lobb has a very strong presence in South & West of India & our target is to spread wings in North & East which is under action.”

The Chennai-based KCP – Heavy Engineering Unit handed over the first Integrated Air Drop Test - Crew Module structure (IADT-CM) to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) here today. Dr. V.L. Indira Dutt, Chairperson and Managing Director, The KCP Group handed over the structure to Mr. R. Hutton, Acting Director, Human Space Flight Center, ISRO, at a function held at KCP-Heavy Engineering Unit’s integrated facility in Thiruvotriyur. 
 

KCP Hands Over Integrated Air Drop Test - Crew Module Structure to ISRO, Meant for Gaganyaan Mission

ISRO had earlier placed an order with KCP for the fabrication of two IADT crew module structures, both meant for the demonstration of its Technology Preparedness levels before carrying out Gaganyaan spacecraft, India’s first human space flight programme. The first IADT-CM is fabricated at KCP’s integrated facility for heavy casting, machining, and fabrication in Thiruvotriyur. The second one will be supplied to ISRO by March 2024.

The first IADT-CM weighs 3,120 kg and measures 3.1 diameter and 2.6-meter height. It is made of light alloy (aluminum) and 15CDV6 steel. The structure comprises more than 100 components that were joined together with welding, riveting and threaded fastening techniques. It will accommodate major subsystems like parachute system, pyros, avionics, and buoyance augmentation system.

While ISRO designed the IADT-CM structure, KCP-Heavy Engineering Unit fabricated and realised it at its in-house facilities. The fabrication of the structure is a challenging job, involving critical forming, precision machining, and stringent assembly required of both aluminum and high strength steel. ISRO’s Gaganyaan Mission envisages launching a crew of two to three members to an orbit of 400 km for a 3-day mission and bringing them back safely to the earth by facilitating the landing in Indian sea waters. The spacecraft mainly consists of Crew Module and Service Module. The CM structure, fabricated at KCP, simulates the shape and size of the actual Gaganyaan crew module. The Integrated Air Drop Test will be performed using an Indian Air Force helicopter by taking the Crew Module structure to an altitude of 3.6 to 4 km to validate the deceleration system (parachute & pyro’s) performance.

The event kicked off with an inaugural ceremony with lamp lighting by Sayeed Ahmed, CEO, Biesse India, Priyanka Singh, Dy. FAZ II Plus - High load bearing capacity

FAZ II Plus, the latest generation of fischer bolt anchors, was made for transferring high static and medium dynamic loads in cracked and non-cracked concrete. The anchors are also suitable for use in sand-lime brick (except for dynamic applications). A European Technical Assessment (ETA) provides added safety. A general design approval allows anchorages in steel fibre-reinforced concrete with the FAZ II, FAZ II R and FAZ II HCR variants (M6-M24 diameter). Railings, steel beams, pipeline suspensions, cable runs, consoles, facade substructures, wood structures, lifts, conveyor belts, hoists, and many more can permanently and safely be fastened in various construction materials with the powerful anchor.

FAZ II Plus - High load bearing capacity

The new ETA confirms the suitability of diameter versions M16- M24 in galvanized and stainless steel materials for dynamic loads. Compared to the previous generation, the tensile load- bearing capacity has increased, and a higher strength material is processed. This requires fewer fastening points and anchors per application and project, reducing the time and cost involved. An external assessment confirms that the FAZ II Plus service life of 120 years is ideal for infrastructure projects and structures designed for a long life span. Regarding applications in seismic regions, the assessment (ETA) covers seismic performance categories C1 and C2, both with and without the FFD filling disc for filling annular gaps, depending on the diameter.

FAZ II Plus - increases material strength

In addition to aborted holes, compliant installation (ETA) can be carried out. The assessment also covers nuts in accordance with ISO and verifies higher fire resistance values than the predecessor product, with temperatures of up to 1,350 °C with a fire duration of up to 180 minutes according to the RWS fire curve.

FAZ II Plus - ideal for moving applications

Users can process the FAZ II Plus bolt anchor in holes created with a hollow, hammer or diamond drill using pre-positioned, push-through or stand-off installation, depending on the situation. Installation is quicker and easier as there is no need to clean the drill hole. The cone bolt is pulled into the expansion clip by tightening the nut, expanding firmly against the wall of the drill hole. The anchor is then able to carry loads immediately. An additional Dynamic Set makes it easier to safely install dynamic applications. FAZ II Plus M16-24 is therefore an efficient fixing solution under dynamic loads with few load changes.
