Technovation Awards 2026 at the IESA Vision Summit celebrated innovation across Start-Ups, MSME, Enterprise, and Skilling categories

• Dr. Sarabhai Award presented to Mr. B. V. Naidu, Chairman, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), in recognition of his distinguished contributions spanning over three decades to the advancement of innovation, skill development, policy formulation, and industry growth — and his instrumental role in building a robust ESDM ecosystem that has firmly established Brand India on the global stage.

A Platform Built for the Next Generation of Innovators

India has earned global recognition for its deep semiconductor design talent. As the nation now accelerates toward chip manufacturing, the imperative is clear — India must expand its capabilities across the entire semiconductor value chain to build a truly self-reliant ecosystem.

The IESA Vision Summit 2026 concluded with the DeepTech Hackathon Grand Finale, spotlighting cutting-edge semiconductor talent and Edge AI innovation

The ‘DeepTech Hackathon’ was conceived as a high-impact platform to catalyse this transition — identifying, nurturing, and fast-tracking breakthrough innovations and cultivating a future-ready talent pipeline in India. Bringing together some of India’s brightest engineering minds, the hackathon challenged participants to develop cutting-edge solutions leveraging AI-enabled EDA workflows for “Edge AI based Defect Classification System for Semiconductor Images”, reinforcing India’s readiness for design-led manufacturing and deep-tech leadership.  

The competition drew exceptional engagement from the country's engineering community, attracting 911 teams across 359 colleges — culminating in 532 high-quality idea submissions that underwent a rigorous, multi-stage evaluation process. The Grand Finale, held at the IESA Vision Summit 2026 — the most influential gathering of India's electronics and semiconductor leadership — brought together 10 finalist teams who had successfully navigated rigorous qualification rounds, mentorship sessions, and technical evaluations conducted in collaboration with industry experts from GlobalFoundries and NXP Semiconductors.

Commenting on the Mega Finale, Mr. Ashok Chandak, President, IESA and SEMI India, said, “India’s semiconductor ecosystem is at a decisive inflection point. The Winners

Each winning team demonstrated exceptional command of AI enabled semiconductor design principles, systems thinking, and solution viability. A distinguished panel of jury shortlisted the top three winners at the Mega Finale — with the top spot claimed by an all-girls team from Chennai Institute of Technology.

A Theme That Defines a Movement

The 2026 edition's theme — Design to Manufacturing: Synergy of Product, Production and Skill — captures what industry leaders describe as the most critical challenge and opportunity facing India's electronics sector today: bridging the gap between world-class chip and product design capabilities and scalable, high-quality domestic manufacturing.

“India has already demonstrated global leadership in semiconductor design. The next step is clear — we must complete the value chain. We must Create, build, and manufacture world-class products at scale, with uncompromising quality and a deeply skilled workforce to sustain that growth.

India has the engineering talent to power the world. What we now need is the resolve to innovate boldly, the discipline to manufacture competitively, and the foresight to skill our people continuously — not just for India, but for the global technology ecosystem,” said Mr. Ashok Chandak, President, IESA, in his inaugural address.

“The IESA Vision Summit has, over the years, grown into far more than a conference — it has become a “national convergence platform” where ideas, partnerships, policy, innovation, and execution come together to drive real impact. This summit brings together “industry leaders, government policymakers, global investors, start-up innovators, academia, and ecosystem partners” — all united by a shared purpose: “to transform India into a global hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and innovation”, commented Mr. Ruchir Dixit, Chairperson IESA.

“India's electronics manufacturing has grown sixfold in eleven years — a foundation built on policy conviction, industry trust, and global partnership. As we advance into the next phase of our semiconductor mission, we do so with a long-term resolve. India is working on designing various AI applications. Under NSM, Ministry of Electronics and IT is working on design and development of infrastructure that is required for AI. In ISM 2.0, support for design, Manufacturing and packaging will continue and will further expand for semiconductor ecosystem development. Research and Development (R&D) in cutting edge technologies and skilling will also be the key focus areas. India Semiconductor Mission is not only a government initiative, this is a journey of all stakeholders with a resolve to build a resilient, trusted, and future-ready supply chain that brings stability not just to one nation, but to the world,” said Shri. Amitesh Kumar Sinha, CEO & Additional Secretary, ISM, MeitY addressing the summit.  

“Back when I stood up at San Francisco and predicted a $1 trillion semiconductor industry by 2030, I wasn't thinking big enough. We're already at $1 trillion — not by 2030, but as of today if we take in account the chips being designed and manufactured in-house by hyperscalers and major system companies-the industry has already crossed that threshold. So today, I'm putting a new stake in the ground: $2 trillion by 2035. That's not a hope. That's a strategic projection grounded in where this industry is heading — driven by AI, advanced packaging, and the insatiable demand for compute at every layer of the technology stack. We've surprised ourselves before. We'll do it again. Prime Minister Modi invoked Moore’s Law at one of our SEMICONs, calling for India’s semiconductor industry likewise to grow exponentially now that the stars are aligned. The government has done its part. Now it's up to the people of India to step up,” said Mr. Ajit Manocha, CEO and President, SEMI at the inauguration.

“The vision of sand-to-silicon ecosystems reflects India's focus on building an integrated semiconductor ecosystem. We already have strong global leadership in chip design, with several global semiconductor companies operating design centers in India, contributing significantly to global chip design talent and innovation. Global trends indicate that the semiconductor value chains are becoming increasingly diversified and resilience-oriented. Nations are seeking trusted partners for manufacturing, design, packaging, and components. Through the strategic trade agreements, market access negotiations and export promotion frameworks, we are expanding opportunities for India's electronics and semiconductor industry in the global markets. Our objective is not just participation, but leadership in targeted segments of the global electronics trade ecosystem," said Shri. The most Impactful development at the IESA Vision Summit, the official formation of IDSPS (Indian Design, Semiconductors, Packaging and Systems) — was announced as a dedicated division under IESA, marking a significant milestone for India's semiconductor R&D landscape. The division, formed with active participation from industries and Institutes will be led by Dr. Prof. Rao Tummala, appointed as CEO of the division and is envisioned to build a long-term R&D for manufacturing technology needs spanning 3, 5, and even 10 years ahead into the future — with ambitions that extend well beyond national boundaries to create global impact.

MediaTek Tech Day 2025

MediaTek showcased its latest Dimensity 9500 SoC, reinforcing the company’s leadership in high-performance mobile computing. MediaTek Dimensity 9500 is a 3^rd gen All Big Core CPU design, combining a 4.21GHz ultra core, industry’s first support for 4-channel UFS4.1, MediaTek Imagiq 1190, three premium cores, Arm G1-Ultra GPU and four performance cores. MediaTek also spotlighted some of the latest collaborations across its Dimensity portfolio, including flagship 5G smartphones from the OPPO Find X9 series and the vivo X300 series and high-performance smartphones in the premium Dimensity 8000 series.

Building on the momentum from last year’s launch, the Foundry Connect Program continues to provide startups with access to GF’s advanced Product Design Kits (PDKs), GlobalShuttle™ Multi Project Wafer (MPW) fabrication, IP libraries, and engineering expertise. The program aligns closely with India’s Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, enabling eligible companies to fast-track their silicon innovations toward commercial manufacturing.

To amplify the impact of TeknIka 2025, GF India has partnered with IESA and SEMI India, India’s premier industry body representing the semiconductor, electronics, and design ecosystem. Through this collaboration, GF India will engage IESA and SEMI India’s extensive network of fabless startups, academia, and industry stakeholders, inviting them to the conference to know more about GF technologies and benefit from the Foundry Connect Program.

GF India TeknIka 2025 serves as a platform to showcase GF’s technology roadmap, foster collaboration with academia and customers, and strengthen ties with policy makers and industry bodies. The conference aims to catalyze innovation and build a robust local semiconductor ecosystem in India.

1. AI-assisted Real-time Landslide Detection and Alerting System: This project uses AI techniques and Avnet's development boards to provide early detection and timely alerts for landslides, helping to protect lives and property in high-risk areas like the Himalayas and Western Ghats.

2. Automated Bird Identification and Survey System: Using deep learning, this system automates bird species identification from audio and video recordings, streamlining data collection in challenging environments and supporting conservation research.

3. Automated Bird Sound Identification for Tackling Illegal Wildlife Trafficking: This innovative system aims to detect and identify bird sounds to combat illegal wildlife trafficking. By integrating machine learning, the system enhances detection capabilities at checkpoints and contributes to preserving biodiversity by identifying bird calls in flight baggage.

As part of this partnership, Avnet India is also supporting the significant upgrade of NITK's Electronic Systems Laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment, including digital oscilloscopes and AI-embedded development boards, which will be vital for advancing these sustainability solutions.

With over 100 years of experience in technology distribution, Avnet has built strong relationships with global suppliers, equipping customers with the tools they need to navigate complex design and supply chain challenges. Through collaborations like the one with NITK, Avnet fosters innovation by enabling the creation of scalable, AI-powered solutions aimed at addressing pressing environmental and societal issues.

Building on his pioneering work in semiconductor engineering space, Raja Manickam has launched iVP Semi, a fabless semiconductor startup focused on empowering Indian system companies through localized chip production. iVP Semi aims to drive innovation and development locally with strong system design competence to help chip manufacturers and suppliers, enabling Indian companies to compete both in India and globally. The company has secured $5M in pre- Series A funding to build India presence, scale operations, set up testing facilities and activate marketing initiatives.

As part of this strategy, iVP Semi is setting up chip design centers in Chennai and Bangalore as well as licensing product IP from Taiwan, Japan and the US. While being an asset-lite fabless company, chip and module testing will be done internally. iVP Semi is working with the State Government of Tamil Nadu to set up a production test facility of 20,000 sq. ft. in Chennai. The second test facility will come up shortly in one other location in South India. • Advance policy reforms to lower the cost of doing business for semiconductor companies in India, including offering tax breaks to chip companies, reducing customs administration burdens, and expediting clearance times for goods entering the country;

• Establish cross-sector partnerships with higher-education institutions to grow India’s semiconductor-ready workforce; and

Dr. Ashwath Narayan C N, Hon'ble Minister of Higher Education, IT & BT, Science & Technology, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood, Govt. of Karnataka said In Karnataka, we have completely revamped/revived from ITI to Polytechnic, Engineering, Degree education in all levels. From school to higher education, we have upgraded ourselves to industry 4.0 and our facility and infrastructure is at international standards. We want to have complete utilization of all available resources, have the entire industry be a part of the academia and design the organization structure in such a way that it becomes much better than the model institutions like IIT and IIM. Our ultimate aim is to be able to cater to the manpower requirement of the entire world.

Dr. Satya Gupta, President, VLSI Society of India, Advisor, IESA, noted that A Semiconductor Chip is used in all technology products we use continuously in our day to day life, be it a Washing Machine, Smart Watch, Oximeter or anything else. Semiconductor technology has seen astronomical growth over the last 50 years. In 1971, when Intel announced the 4004 processor, it had approximately 2300 tied transistor devices powering the microprocessor. Today, there are more than 60 billion transistors in a tiny chip which is slightly bigger than 1.1 inch - this is, by any standard, mind boggling growth of technology in this area. Because of the power of chips, they are at the heart of every industry vertical and semiconductor technology has become the most important technology for economic, information, infrastructure and strategic security. The latest emphasis on the semiconductor ecosystem in India and world over, has created need for more than 2 Lakh VLSI Design engineers and more than 10,000 skilled technicians for designing the chips and manufacturing in the semiconductor fab.

Anil Kempanna, General Chair, VLSID 2022, Vice President - IOTG, Intel welcomed all participants referring to the event as not only a platform but a confluence of all the stakeholders in the ecosystem. A stacked CMOS image sensor adopts a stacked structure consisting of a pixel chip made up of back-illuminated pixels stacked atop a logic chip where signal processing circuits are formed. Within the pixel chip, photodiodes for converting light to electrical signals, and pixel transistors for controlling the signals are situated alongside each other on the same layer. Increasing saturation signal level within form-factor constraints plays an important role in realizing high image quality with wide dynamic range.

Sony’s new architecture is an advancement in stacked CMOS image sensor technology. Using its proprietary stacking technology, Sony packaged the photodiodes and pixel transistors on separate substrates stacked one atop the other.

In conventional stacked CMOS image sensors, by contrast, the photodiodes and pixel transistors sit alongside each other on the same substrate. The new stacking technology enables adoption of architectures that allow the photodiode and pixel transistor layers to each be optimized, thereby approximately doubling saturation signal level relative to conventional image sensors and, in turn, widening dynamic range.

Additionally, because pixel transistors other than transfer gates (TRG), including reset transistors (RST), select transistors (SEL) and amp transistors (AMP), occupy a photodiode-free layer, the amp transistors can be increased in size. By increasing amp transistor size, Sony succeeded in substantially reducing the noise to which nighttime and other dark-location images are prone.

The widened dynamic range and noise reduction available from this new technology will prevent underexposure and overexposure in settings with a combination of bright and dim illumination (e.g., backlit settings) and enable high-quality, low-noise images even in low-light (e.g., indoor, nighttime) settings.

Sony will contribute to the realization of increasingly high-quality imaging such as smartphone photographs with its 2-Layer Transistor Pixel technology.

One smartphone maker that won’t take up the Sonde technology anytime soon: Apple, which develops its own chips. But Liu points out how the tech giant is removing some of the roadblocks that have long hampered advanced voice-based technologies. At the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, Apple announced that its voice-activated assistant Siri will process speech entirely on devices, allowing many requests to be completed without access to the internet, cutting out the cloud connection currently needed for even basic Siri queries.

On-device processing could speed up the analysis of voice recordings and helps ensure the privacy of the captured data, which has long been a concern around voice-controlled features. Removing friction from the experience, Liu argued, could open the door for wider adoption of the vocal technologies like the biomarker system Sonde has been developing and illustrates the potential value of building its tech natively into smartphones.

“What it means is that throughout the day, as you speak into the phone for Siri or for whatever you use your voice, your smartphone turns into a fitness tracker via voice,” said Liu. “You’re basically able to use your smartphone as if it were your Apple Watch, as if it were your Fitbit wristband, as if it was your Oura ring. But you don’t need those devices. That is to me, the biggest game changer that [on-device] processing allows.”

Beyond its ambitions to sell to phone manufacturers, Sonde will soon detail a consumer app that allows users to track the progression of their mental fitness. Sonde has also created tools so that third-party mental health apps can easily incorporate its biomarkers to track how well treatments are working. The company has explored using its biomarkers to help pharmaceutical companies develop drugs. It says it has16 partners using its technology.

As it aims to stand out, Sonde’s integration with Qualcomm chips provides a high-profile partner that could boost its reach. Qualcomm will soon begin marketing the tech to manufacturers who are anxious to stay ahead of Apple, which, given its focus on health and voice, may also have a similar feature in the offing.

This neural amplifier chip was released in an event held in Chitkara University campus on today in the presence of Dr. Madhu Chitkara (Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University), Dr. Archana Mantri (Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University) and Sh. H.S. Jatana (Group Head - Design and Process group, Semi-conductor Laboratory (SCL), Mohali, Punjab, India).

This work is an example of hand in hand efforts put forth by both academia and industry which is useful not only for clinics and patients but also to the research scholars and circuit design community working in bio-potential signal recording all over the world. Further, the novel low-voltage and low-noise techniques reported in the design of neural amplifier are expected to be used by the scientific community for implementing various other circuits such as voltage amplifiers and transimpedance amplifiers etc. for biomedical applications.

Today when the entire world is facing an unprecedented crisis caused by the pandemic, it’s time to brainstorm over the effective ways to disinfect air, water and surface that can help to mitigate the risk of acquiring infection. “Since long UV-C sterilization has been a proven way to sterilize and disinfect air, water and surfaces. The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) believes that UV disinfection technologies can play a role in a multiple barrier approach to reduce the transmission of bacteria and viruses based on empirical evidence,” said Mr. Avinder Singh, CEO - OSRAM Lighting Pvt. OSRAM’s UV C HNS lamps work at a wavelength of 253.7 nm and obliterate viruses and bacteria with a reliability of 99.9 percent. The use in hospitals in Wuhan and Beijing, China, has confirmed their effectiveness against coronavirus. In one of the recent interviews, Mr. Wilhelm Nehring, CEO of the Digital business unit at OSRAM Global, emphasized upon increasing the production volume of UV-C disinfection systems, because these can make an important contribution in the fight against coronavirus. “Considering the effectiveness of UV-C Lamps worldwide, hospitals have been using devices fitted with UV-C lamps to disinfect air and surfaces. These devices are also used to disinfect the personal protective equipment due to their large-scale efficacy against the drug resistant bugs,” added Mr. Singh.

“Recently, a surge has been observed for several portable UV-C sanitizing devices for domestic use to disinfect small electronic gadgets or accessories. Depending upon the combined output power of the UV-C lamps, duration of UV-C light exposure for disinfection/ sanitize might vary,” he observed.

UV-C germicidal lamps can be installed in ventilation ducts to clean the air passing through them. OSRAM customers are using 4W, 8W, 11W HNS UV-C lamps to produce small/big size UV-C cabinet disincentive devices for small scale domestic as well as industrial usage. For large-scale commercial usage - 30W and 36W OSRAM HNS UV-C lamps are seen to be installed in devices for doctor’s clinics. Whereas 25W, 30W and 36W HNS UV-C lamps are recently used for conveyer belts in airports, hotels, offices, etc.

In this New Normal period, offices are no longer the same as there is strict implementation of hygienic practices. Specially to maintain healthy air quality and disinfect surfaces, devices with UV-C Lamps have become much sought-after items in offices. “In fact, these devices have immense utility, if installed at any other public spaces like - malls, restaurants, movie halls, retail centres, salon, gym, warehouses and other commercial establishment with large human gathering,” said Mr. Singh.

LED lighting giant OPPLE concluded 'The Climbers, Channel Partners Conclave 2020' on Tuesday (January 7). The last day of this two-day summit was attended by 200 channel partners of OPPLE. OPPLE has set new guidelines for dealers, project dealers and other business partners.

OPPLE held its two-day conclave at Jaypee Greens Resort at Greater Noida on Monday (January 6) and Tuesday (January 7). Mostly, the channel partners of OPPLE joined the event on the first day. The direct dealers, project dealers and other trade partners also participated in the conclave and shared their growth stories in LED technology and its advancement.

Sales targets were also decided for different branches pan India. The shareholders participated in the conclave from every corner of India and discussed LED Lights and Products.

India's premier education institution, PDM University is going to be powered by solar energy, courtesy of a 1100 kW rooftop solar project. With this project the university has become one of the front runners in utilizing renewable energy in the state of Haryana as well as the National Capital Region. The university has installed more than 3400 Solar Panel on the rooftop of its 13 buildings across the campus.

The system will supply around 70% of the peak energy demand on campus during the day, enough to power more than 700 households. All the energy needs of hi-tech class rooms, laboratories, hostels, mess, gymnasium, offices & administrative buildings of the university will be taken care by this Solar Plant. The solar panel systems will be linked to a centralized electrical sub-station situated inside the campus for collective solar coverage.

The Chief Executive Officer of PDM University, Mr. Chitresh Lather, said, "Educational institutions play a vital role in the socio-economic transformation of the country, hence in support of this social cause and in line with the government's green initiative, the university authorities decided to take up this project last year. This project would result in significant reduction in the university's carbon footprints which is about the same as taking 300 cars off the road each year.”

"At PDM, we have always believed in setting a good example for the rest of the country be it in the teaching and learning, use of technology, fostering innovation or use of sustainable and renewable energy as in this case. The university needs a significant amount of energy to power its state-of-the-art modern infrastructure through its campus which is spread over 95 acres. This project would not only help us in efficiently manage our power needs but also help us save up to 35-40 percent in our electricity costs." Mr. Lather also thanked Jacksons India for successfully delivering this project and also appreciated the efforts of the university manpower involved in this large-scale project. The university is further planning to increase the capacity of this project in near future.

MediaTek’s AI video encoder enhances video call quality even when connection bandwidth is limited. It can be used for video calls including Skype calls, Facebook video calls and Youtube live video streaming.

Helio P70 comes with a 4G LTE modem and 300MBit/s of download performance. Dual 4G VoLTE support provides a seamless user experience across two different SIMs for higher quality calls and faster connection times. Helio P70 also features MediaTek’s smart antenna technology, which automatically uses the best antenna combination to sustain signal quality.

The Helio P70 is in volume production now, and is expected to be available in consumer devices by November of this year.

The new technology patented by Cosmos Solutions Pvt. Ltd. to generate more power from engines using micro controllers received a major green signal with a private equity of USD 950 million from Linetrust Offshore Ltd. Head of private equity of Linetrust ASEAN, Dr. Sailesh Lachu Hiranandani, who has spared no effort in promoting the development of renewable energy, assured Cosmos Energy that another investment of USD 300,000,000 is on the anvil to promote research and development in the area of this environment-friendly technology.

At the function to announce the deal in Port Louis, Mauritius, on Wednesday, August 29, patent owner Nitin Gupta said his company Cosmos Energy is eyeing the USD 240-billion industry and is prepared to cater to the growing need for green energy. 

Chairman of Linetrust Offshore Limited, operating from Marshall Island and branches across Europe, US, Africa and Asia, Michael Rogers said the disbursal of funds for the project would continue.

The Executive Vice President of Cosmos Energy, Rahul Shah thanked Dr. Sailesh Lachu Hiranandani for the funding and said that the invention would on one hand contribute to the reduction of carbon footprints and on the other hand, create jobs and it is for this reason that governments of India, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Malaysia have approached Cosmos Energy to set up their manufacturing in their countries.

With the development of new services, such as HD videos, over the top (OTT), bring your own device (BYOD), cloud services and Internet of things (IoT), network traffic has increased sharply. Operators need to increase their bandwidth to Gigaband service, but face long network construction duration and low return on investment (ROI). Huawei released the CloundFAN prototype for MSOs, so as to implement its All-Cloud Network solution. Based on the distributed converged cable access platform (D-CCAP) solution, the CloudFAN prototype enables smooth evolution to the cloud. By supporting agile services, converged architectures and intelligent O&M, this CloudFAN prototype helps MSOs achieve commercial transformation.

• For home users, the cloud platform of CloudFAN along with intelligent terminals can deliver various innovative services, such as one-touch bandwidth acceleration, intelligent Wi-Fi, home safeguard, security surveillance and parental control. Users are able to define their services flexibly and have better experience. For enterprises, the CloudFAN prototype provides cloud management, which enables the automatic E2E configuration of business services over DOCSIS (BSoD) and Layer 2 virtual private network (L2VPN) leased lines. By using this platform, enterprises can deploy new services by themselves, adjust bandwidths flexibly, improve new service provisioning efficiency and enhance network security.

• The cloud platform of CloudFAN supports product integration and interoperability by using the Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) and Yet Another Next Generation (YANG) interfaces. That is, this platform shields the differences between the CMTS, I-CCAP, R-MACPHY, R-PHY and DPoE architectures to realize fast network integration. Next-generation optical line terminals (OLTs) support both fiber to the home (FTTH) and D-CCAP solutions. They also support the interconnection with the CloudFAN cloud platform and network controllers, meeting cloud architecture requirements of all-optical access evolution in the future.

• The cloud platform of CloudFAN supports intelligent O&M for HFC networks. This O&M includes proactive detection of network-wide faults, automatic identification and demarcation of typical faults, lightweight and visualized web pages and smartphone Apps, eliminating the use of handhold testers and improving network reliability and O&M efficiency.

Huawei's HFC network–based D-CCAP solution has been large-scale commercially deployed by mainstream MSOs in 30 countries, including Denmark, New Zealand, Spain, Mexico, France, Japan and Brazil, covering over 50 million home broadband users. These intimidations pose grave risks to students since most of them are ill-informed about this issue. Dr. Kamini Rege, Assistant Professor, Dept of Human Development, Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science, Affiliated to University of Mumbai, said on the report launch, “Research conducted 1200 children in Mumbai and Thane district in the year 2016-2017 reveals that children have an extremely low level of awareness and knowledge on being Responsible Netism. Thus, it is important in helping children and youth by creating awareness and imparting education regarding preventing abuse and misuse; and promoting guidelines for cyber safety and security.” She also added, “I strongly believe that collective efforts need to be taken by professionals from the field of education, research and media, for creating awareness through value added school curriculum for children and youth along with parenting sessions and workshops to build a CYBER SAFE WORLD for our children.”

The research was conducted by the Masters Students Ms. Soumya Shetty and Ms. Virginia Dias under the guidance of Dr.Kamini Rege, Assistant Professor of Dept. of Human Development; College of Home Science Nirmala Niketan, affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

The RESPONSIBLE NETISM movement, in conjunction with the Thane and Mumbai Cyber cells, plans to sensitize children, youth and parents within the sphere of educational institutions since academia plays a crucial role in impacting and developing children and youth. They conduct customized ‘One-time One-hour’ child-friendly interactive sessions titled “Being Responsible Netizens” for students of STD V onwards and for parents. The sessions focus on highlighting psychological impacts and legal implications of irresponsible online behavior and provide technical tips to secure gadgets to enable constructive use of technology and promote online safety. The “Being Responsible Netizens” programme has been sponsored by Quick Heal Foundation for 2016-17.

The Indian Machine Tools industry is today valued at $1 billion, just a fraction of the value of the global market at $84 billion. Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers Association (IMTMA) said the Union Budget 2017 will expand the growth of the machine tool industry in India. While India stands 13^th in production of machine tools in the world, it still imports 58% of the machine tools for domestic consumption. Machine tools production in India increased to INR 4727 crore during 2015-16 from INR 4230 crore in 2014-15, registering a 12% growth.
