Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

The Jasubhai Group’s CHEMTECH Foundation in association with the Honorary Consulate General of Austria hosted the Austrian Viennese Ball at the TRIDENT Hotel, Mumbai for the corporate heads and industry titans of Mumbai to celebrate the 40th year anniversary celebration of CHEMTECH Foundation and the 50th Anniversary of the Jasubhai Group. The Ball was a part of the Austrian Cultural Festival and represents a joint effort aims to strengthen the business and cultural co-operation between Austria and India.

About this initiative, the Austrian Ambassador to India Mr. Bernhard Wrabetz said: “I have to say I am over whelmed it looks like Vienna to me, as I am not only the Austrian Ambassador but also the child of the beautiful city of Vienna.  I am feeling even more at home in Mumbai now than I did before this evening. This is an extremely elaborate Viennese ball. Just wanted to thank a few people for making this night and this Austrian Cultural week possible. First to thank, is, of course, Hon’ble Consul General, Mr. Jasu Shah, he has been a friend of Austria for many decades and he has been our representative here in Mumbai and there are no words to describe what he has done to improve and maintain the wonderful relations between Austria and the West of India.  Thank you very much for doing this wonderful job and continuing to be a friend of Austria.  The second person to thank is the one who had this idea, is Mr. Maulik Shah.  When we first met he said let us do something grand for the people who are hungry for Austrian Culture, why don’t we do a ball.   Thank you very much, for not only having this idea but also for going through with it; this is fantastic.  I will take this opportunity to announce that Maulik will not only organise more balls but might also succeed his father in the role of Hon. Consul General.”

The Honorary Vice Consul General of Austria & Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of Jasubhai Group & CHEMTECH Foundation Mr. Maulik Jasubhai said “There are many reasons to celebrate and create this large celebration this year. My father Jasu Shah who has been the Honorary Consul General of Austria for more than 35 years was privileged to receive the grand honor in 1993 with the Austrian Cross of Honour, highest civilian honour bestowed to any non Austrian for promoting Science & Arts. So for us it’s a great privilege, great honour and pleasure to be associated with Austria for more than three decades. Secondly it is a dual occasion of celebration for us since the Jasubhai Group will be completing its 50th year in 2015 and CHEMTECH Foundation is celebrating its 40th Year Anniversary this year. On this occasion, the CHEMTECH Foundation that is India’s strongest non profit industry association since 1975 across the entire gamut of the Indian process industry is very happy to bring to the people of Mumbai, India’s largest Chemical Processing Expo titled CHEMTECH WORLD EXPO 2015 that will be a first of its kind. This Expo that will have participation from several other countries will be a great platform for exchange of insights and technological innovations. The CHEMTECH Expo will play a vital role in shaping the future of our industries in Maharashtra for the better. So we welcome you and look forward to your participation with lots of fun.”

The Ball officially opened in the Viennese tradition. This was followed by musical performances of the Faecher Polonaise and Waltzes in the Viennese style by the Youth Chamber Orchestra of Salzburg, Austria. Operatic Arias, Tango, Ballet, Waltz, Flamenco as well as fusion dance sequences were a delight to watch by one and all.
