Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, which services more than 65,000 life policies in flood-hit J&K, has simplified the claim settlement norms for victims in the flood-hit state. The insurance major has also announced helpline numbers for the flood-affected people for all claim related queries set up a special team to handle these cases on a priority basis. The measures taken by Bajaj Allianz Life coincide with Monday’s Insurance Regulatory Authority of India (IRDA) directive to life insurers on taking immediate steps for expeditious settlement of claims. Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance has substantially reduced the documentation for claim applications for J&K flood victims. While the requirement for documents has been already minimised, the general investigation procedure may be waived off if prima facie documents establish the life assured’s death in the floods. The insurer would accept the certified list issued by either state government hospitals, or the police, or government authorities, or armed forces involved in the rescue operations, if a death certificate was not available. The other documents required include KYC of nominee/legal heir (ID proof and address proof) along with bank details for enabling NEFT, photograph of the deceased/missing life assured.
