Hiring Activity Sees 10% Growth in Feb 2015 Over Feb 2014: Naukri Jobspeak

• Among the metros, Pune recoded the maximum increase in hiring activity followed by Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata

• IT, BFSI and Textile sectors continued to show positive trend and registered a growth of 77%, 76% and 16% respectively in February 2015 over February 2014

• The demand for Packaging, IT, Web Designing and Consulting professionals saw the maximum growth in February 2015

Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of February 2015 was at 1639, recording a 10% increase in hiring activity over February 2014. The sectors which recorded maximum increase were Banking and Finance Services (BFSI) and IT at 77% and 76% year-on-year (YoY) increase in February 2015. Geographically, Pune and Hyderabad were leading the tally and registered a yoy growth of 36% and 24% in February 2015 as reflected by the Naukri Job Speak Index.

With economy showing signs of positive growth and with the appraisal season round the corner, we can expect the job market to gain further momentum in the coming months.”

Industry Sector Analysis:

An in depth analysis revealed that while IT, BFSI and the Textile sectors recorded growth, whereas few sectors such as the Insurance, Auto, Agriculture and as well as the Construction and Engineering sector saw a year on year decline of 20%, 9%, 8% and 4% respectively in the index in February’15. The Telecom and Pharma sectors witnessed a spike of 14% and 12% growth respectively in the same period as compared to February 2014.

City Wise Analysis:

All metro cities registered an increase in hiring activity in February 2015 when compared with February 2014. While the maximum growth was recorded in Pune at 26% and Hyderabad at 24%; Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai also witnessed high growth of the order of 17%, 16% and 12% YoY respectively for the same period. Delhi and Kolkatta registered marginal growth of 4% and 1% respectively YoY in February 2015.

Functional Area Analysis:

The demand for professionals in four sectors grew fairly strong in February 2015 over February 2014. These were Packaging, IT, Web Designing and Consulting which grew at 58%, 32%, 23% and 21% respectively. Moderate growth was seen in the HR, BFSI, and Marketing at 18%, 14% and 9% each in February 2015. On the other hand, the demand for Top Management, Hotels & Restaurants and Supply Chain professionals registered a decline of 21%, 19% and 10% respectively for the same period.
