Mr. SS Mundra (Deputy Governor, RBI) inaugurated Bank of India museum at Bank of India's Mumbai Main Branch (70-80 MG Road, Fort, Mumbai) in the presence of  Mrs. VR Iyer (Chairperson and Managing Director Bank of India), Mr. BP Sharma (ED, Bank of India), Mr. RP Marathe (ED, Bank of India), and Mr. RA Sankara Narayanan (ED, Bank of India) amongst others. Mr. Mundra also released a book titled “The Bank of India - 100 years of Prudential Banking” by author Abhik Ray. It showcases different vignettes of the Bank such as Mahatma Gandhiji having an account with the Bank as well as other political figures.

The book takes a detailed look at the proud history of the remarkable Bank. Never before had so many mercantile communities - Parsees, Bhatia, Gujarati banias, Bohra Muslims and Jews - come together with a common aim to set up a bank that would serve India's indigenous trade and industry on modern lines. Post the nationalization of banks in 1969, the Bank aligned its activities with the economic plans of the Government of India and expanded the scope of banking to the farthest corners of the country to reach people from every economic stratum.
