Maersk Line Launches an India-Middle East-Mediterranean Service- ME-5 at DP World Chennai

DP World Chennai celebrated the berthing of Maersk Line’s new service – ME-5, an India-Middle East-Mediterranean service. The first vessel to call at DP World Chennai under ME-5 Service was Maersk Idaho. The maiden call of the vessel was commemorated with a function on board on February 24, 2015.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony were Mr I. Jeyakumar, Deputy Chairman, Chennai Port Trust and Mr. Vaiyapuri, Traffic Manager, Chennai Port Trust. The occasion was co-hosted by DP World officials and Maersk Line representatives including Mr. Anoop Kumar, Regional Manager – Sales, Mr. Sam Earnest, Regional Manager – Operations and Mr. Vaz Wilbert, Regional Manager – Customer Service.

On the occasion, K. K .Krishnadas, CEO, DP World Chennai said, “It is an honor to be chosen yet again by Maersk line for our services. It is a constant endeavor for us at DP World to deliver the best service to our customers with highest levels of efficiency. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Maersk Line for the trust they have shown in us and our ability to service them.”

The weekly service is scheduled to call at Chennai every Tuesday at 0900 Hours and sail out on Wednesday 0900 Hours. ME-5 service will deploy 7 x 4500 TEU capacity vessels and operate with the following port rotation:

 

Port Said, Algeciras, Valencia, Genoa, Port Said, Aqaba, Jeddah, Djibouti, Salalah, Colombo, Chennai, Colombo, Salalah, Jeddah, Aqaba and back to Port Said
