Roopam Sharma, Student of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions has been Awarded the Prestigious MIT Tech Review's ‘Innovators Under 35’ Award

He is the only student to ever qualify for the award and is among the 8 finalists shortlisted for the Global Innovators List

Manav Rachna Educational Institutions take immense pride in the stupendous achievement of one of its most promising students Roopam Sharma, of CSE 4th Year (Manav Rachna University) who has been has been selected for ‘India’s top innovators under 35’ India Edition. The prestigious ‘Innovators under 35’ Award has honored some of the world’s most brilliant tech minds like Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page and Sergey Brin of Google. Twenty year old Roopam is the youngest person ever to win the award and is also the only student to be ever listed on this prestigious list. Eight winners made it to the India edition of the ‘Innovators Under 35’ list this year. These eight innovators will also present a three-minute pitch at the two-day EmTech India 2016, to be held on 18-19 March in New Delhi.

 

They will automatically become finalists for the global ‘Innovators Under 35’ list. Organized by MIT Technology Review since 1999, the prestigious TR Innovators Under 35 global competition has honoured some of the world’s most brilliant tech minds like Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Tesla Motors Inc.’s J.B. Straubel, and Larry Page and Sergey Brin of Google.

Roopam, who has earlier won recognition at the national and international levels by winning the World Championship of Microsoft Youth Spark Challenge for Change 2015, Microsoft Imagine Cup 2015 and Yahoo Accenture Innovation Jockeys 2014 & 2015,said, “I feel extremely humbled for being selected for ‘India’s top innovators under 35’ India Edition. While I am the only student to be a part of this innovators list of awardees, I would give my 100 per cent to fulfill the expectations and faith reposed in me by my Institution and country. I hope to make a difference in the world through my passion and skills for technology.
