Renowned Judges Justice R. S. Endlaw and Justice S Ravindra Bhat Stress on the Importance of Ethics & Values in the Lives of Educators

--  A talk on ‘Ethics & Values at the Work place’ organized at Manav Rachna Educational Institutions

-- Hon'ble Justice Mr. R. S. Endlaw, Judge Delhi High Court and Hon'ble Justice Mr. S  Ravindra Bhat, Judge  Delhi High Court spoke on the    importance of ethics in the lives of educators

 

Manav Rachna Academic Staff College (MRASC) organised a Faculty Development Programme on ‘Ethics & Values at the Workplace’ for the educators of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI). The day witnessed two of Delhi’s learned and eminent personalities Hon'ble Justice Mr. R. S. Endlaw, Judge Delhi High Court and Hon'ble Justice Mr S Ravindra Bhat, Judge Delhi High Court, addressing the large gathering of Faculty members from MREI.

 

Deliberating on the need for this FDP, Brig. (Retd) S.N. Setia, Executive Director-MRASC said, “Values and ethics not only help in keeping order but also ensure that the organization is able to run smoothly by preventing the escalation of disrespectful and unproductive behavior.”

 

Speaking on the subject of ethics and values, Hon’ble Justice R. S. Endlaw advised the Faculty to learn through observation and to maintain discipline at all costs. He quoted from the Gita: “Living ethically is the only way to live in society. When we match ambition with discipline, recognition is bound to follow in its wake.”

 

 

 

Hon'ble Justice S Ravindra Bhat, Judge Delhi High Court, while addressing the audience spoke from his own personal experiences and said that in the history of mankind, “ethics and values have been the most complex, controversial and contemporary of all topics”. Quoting from the Mahabharata, he said: “Human beings are not perfect but we should strive towards perfection.’ He also defined the rules of prudence saying: “Ethics starts at home; it is the absence of prejudice and involves respect to peers and students.”

 

Addressing the eminent audience, Dr Sanjay Srivastava, MD-MREI said, “Whatever we do and follow becomes our dharma. Teachers and professors are the biggest custodians of characters. Since they create a deep imprint in a student’s character, the greater is the responsibility to abide by ethics and values at the workplace.”

 

Dr Sanjay Srivastava also announced that he would be coming up with a book on 108 slokas of the Bhagavad Gita as a tribute to Founder Visionary Dr O.P. Bhalla on the next Founder’s Day.
