BEL Celebrates Excellence with R&D and Executive Excellence Awards

In a bid to inspire, motivate and bring out the best in its workforce, Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has been rewarding its engineers, R&D scientists and other executives with annual R&D and Executive Excellence awards.

The most ‘Innovative’, ‘Significant’ and ‘Key Performers’ among BEL’s Executives who made significant contributions during the year 2013-14 were honoured at the BEL R&D and Executive Excellence Awards function held at Bengaluru on July 12, 2015. R&D Excellence Awards were given in the categories of ‘Excellent R&D Project’, ‘Excellent Technology Development’, ‘Innovative Contribution’ and ‘Key Contribution’. Mr S K Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, BEL, and other Directors presented the awards to the winners.

The Key Contribution Awards for 2013-14 were presented to five executives of BEL. They are Mr Abhishek Hegde, Mr Arun Kumar N R, Mr Bhupesh Sharma, Ms Lancy Mathews and Mr Vikas Aggarwal.

As many as 113 received the R&D Excellence Awards and 54 Executives were presented Executive Excellence Awards. The award winners are chosen from among the 9 Units, 2 Central Research Laboratories and various offices of BEL spread across the country, after a stringent selection process.

Each of the award winners were presented a trophy, a certificate and a cash prize. The BEL Excellence Award trophy symbolises the process of ‘Ideas to Achievements’ through a strong and sustained knowledge base. The trophy pedestal with its expanding steps also symbolises the evolution of ever-expanding ideas, vision and horizon. The energy, knowledge and focused efforts required for successful endeavours are depicted by the rising flame. The culmination of the efforts in achieving excellence is illustrated by the solid crystal cube. The flame with the crystal cube represents innovative out-of-the-box thinking.
