With an aim to prevent the slum dwellers and poor families from Malaria and Dengue during monsoon season, Believers Church has started a nation-wide “Mosquito Net” distribution campaign as a part of its community development programme. During the first phase of the campaign, the Delhi Diocese distributed 500 mosquito nets to needy families in Trilokpuri area of New Delhi.

Speaking at the inaugural function of the mosquito net distribution campaign, Member of Parliament & Secretary General of Janata Dal United, Shri K.C Tyagi, said, “I whole heartedly appreciate the noble initiatives of Believers Church and want to thank the Metropolitan Dr. K. P. Yohannan for his compassion and vision to help the lesser privileged families of the society.”

Every year thousands of families are exposed to the risk of mosquito infested diseases like dengue and malaria during the monsoon season. This year the organization has identified vulnerable areas and reached out to socio-economically weaker families to prevent the spread of the diseases.

Speaking on the occasion Bishop Dr. Simon John said, “We at Believers Church are committed to help and serve the needy in every way we can. This is one such step to help and prevent them from illness. We will also carry out awareness drives to make people aware of other hygiene related issues that commonly lead to these diseases.”

This mass mosquito net distribution campaign has been initiated by Dr. K.P. Yohannan, Metropolitan of Believers Church with an aim to address health issues amongst the economically weaker sections of the society. Through this campaign, Believers Church aims to distribute 800,000 mosquito nets during monsoon season across 23 states in the country.

In the next phase, Believers Church’s Delhi Diocese will distribute 5000 mosquito nets in Mukundpur and Gurgaon areas of the Delhi-NCR region. The mosquito net distribution campaign will be done phase wise over the months July & August.

Speaking on the campaign launch Metropolitan Dr. K. P. Yohannan said, “Many people in the country lose their life due to Dengue and Malaria every year. This campaign is not only about distributing the mosquito nets but also bringing awareness amongst the families about dangers of mosquito infested diseases. We at Believers Church feel that it is our duty to empathize with those who are less privileged by addressing their most critical needs like health, education and means to livelihood.”

Last year in a similar drive Believers Church has distributed over 700,000 mosquito nets across the country.

The Church’s numerous other programmes have benefitted thousands of children, women, leprosy patients and villagers in the form of education, counselling, health camps, medicines, hospitals, shelter, rehabilitation and clean drinking water.
