The Red Bull Music Academy is proud to announce the 61 participants of the 2015 Academy edition at la Gaîté lyrique in Paris. Selected by a jury out of 4,509 applications, this year’s class is composed of producers, DJs, instrumentalists, vocalists and composers from 37 different countries. Their musical styles stretch from modern classical to juke, bedroom pop, R&B, shoegaze, techno, instrumental hip hop, power electronics, ambient, jazz, IDM, drone, future bass, disco, drum & bass and beyond.

From October 25 to November 27, the participants will take part in studio sessions, workshops and lectures with legendary artists at the Academy during their respective 2-week terms. At night, each participant will join the lineup at one of the many events that will take place at la Gaîté lyrique and throughout the city as part of the Red Bull Music Academy. Getting global visionary artists and their local counterparts, the academy aims to make the most of its talented participants in the month long intense programme.

One of India’s emerging, immensely talented electronic music producers - The Sine Painter, aka Jayanth R, from Bangalore has been selected for the Red Bull Music Academy this year. With his floating and dreamy deep house, this Bangalorean producer Jayanth Ramachandra is inspired by the likes of Levon Vincent, British house don Matthew Herbert, and German mainstay Roman Flügel. His rolling, elastic rhythms and warm grooves play into his philosophy of striving to balance entertainment with art.

“I’ve been following RBMA for quite some time. It was one of my inspirations to start making music — I watch and listen to all the lecture videos and radio shows,” Jayanth says, adding, “So, I’m extremely honoured to be selected for RBMA 2015. I’m looking forward to working with other incredible musicians and making some great music.”

Drummer and music producer Jivraj Singh, mohan-veena player Jeet Gupta and music producer Sonal D’Silva have represented India at the academy previously. This year Angaraag Mahanta, aka Papon will also be present at the Red Bull Music Academy as a special guest.

ABOUT THE 2015 ACADEMY

The 17th edition of the Red Bull Music Academy will take place in Paris in autumn 2015, bringing together 61 carefully selected producers, vocalists, beat-makers, instrumentalists and DJs. They will be invited to attend intimate lecture sessions and collaborate on music in an expansive, custom-fitted complex of creative and studio spaces.

The Academy experience in 2015 will unfold in various ways throughout la Gaîté lyrique. In an exhibition titled Paris Musique Club, participants will collaborate with visionary French collectives from the music world and beyond to bring their stories and aesthetic visions to life. RBMA Radio, meanwhile, will find a place at Plateau Media, creating a public-facing studio for the many hours of live programming that will be done throughout the Academy.
