New Delhi, Delhi, India

Inspiring and encouraging school kids and celebrating creative young minds, Google today announced the 8th edition of its Doodle 4 Google contest. The contest invites creative and curious students across India between class 1 to 10 to compete and take over the Google homepage for a day with their artwork. Inspired by the theme “If I could teach anyone anything”, the kids design the doodle showcasing what they believe has the potential to bring a positive change to a person’s life, or what they think might help make the world a better place.

Commenting on the occasion, Sapna Chadha, Head of Marketing, Google India said, “Young minds with their imagination and creativity bring ideas that holds the power to build our future. From classroom subjects to valuable life lessons and everything in between, our aim is to encourage kids to learn and inspire others with their creative thoughts and talent.”

Twelve finalists will be selected by Google’s esteemed jury members and will get a chance to spend a day at one of Google’s office, allowing them to experience the company’s culture. In addition, the winning doodle will be featured on the Google India homepage on Children’s Day on November 14, 2016.

Entering its eighth edition, the contest receives more than 1 million entries every year. Last year, nine year old P Karthik from Visakhapatnam won the contest with his imaginative, thoughtful and inspiring doodle entitled “Plastic to Earth Machine”. The creative doodle illustrated his vision for India, where plastic waste is recycled into material that helps mother nature flourish.
