Gurugram, Haryana, India

One of India’s leading organizations, Deshwal Waste Management Pvt. Ltd. (DWMPL) announces a nationwide ‘Swachh Sansar E-waste Drive’ – A pan India e-waste awareness, education and collection campaign. After its first successful E-waste awareness rally in Gurugram on the occasion of first International e-waste day, DWMPL launched a nationwide initiative targeting students, youth and corporates with an aim to contribute to the Prime Minister’s dream project – ‘Swachh Bharat’ Mission. The organization envisages helping in creating a better sustainable environment.

Marking the first of its kind initiative in India, Mr. Raj Kumar, Founder, DWMPL says, “India produced over 2 Million metric tonnes of E-waste in 2016 and only 5% of this humongous amount reached recycling plants. A greater stake of E-waste comes under unorganized sector and that poses an even greater danger because of its unsafe handling. Considering only metro cities, a mere 8% urban population is aware of the need for proper disposal of electronic waste. This is the high time that we must take initiative and build nationwide awareness amongst the public regarding the burgeoning threats of E-waste generation and its unsafe disposal. The ‘Swachh Sansar E-waste drive’ has been designed not only to increase awareness about E-waste but to initiate a mechanism to regulate scientifically safe disposal and recycling of it across India.”

The first phase of the ‘Swachh Sansar E-waste drive’ will be spearheaded by Mr. Rakesh Kumar, VP, DWMPL which will begin from Delhi NCR followed by Bangaluru and Mumbai, where DWMPL will be organizing E-waste awareness drives, social workshops, placement of e-waste disposal bins in societies, corporates, schools, colleges and E-waste collection campaigns. The workshops and awareness camps will evoke a sense of responsibility towards environment sustenance and healthy living. DWMPL aspires to create awareness amongst people about the emerging threats of E-waste, especially targeting the youth, corporate workforce and senior citizens.

“As a growing organization, we understand our social responsibility and our campaign across socio-economic strata will bring people together to tackle the problems of E-waste in India. This is the high time when the nation needs to work in a Public-Private Partnership model to manage the e-waste. We are also inviting corporates, students and residents at our recycling plants to show responsible handling, dismantling, recycling, and disposing of various kinds of E-waste. We hope that our nationwide campaign will receive widespread acclamation and succeed in creating a better pollution-free environment.” adds Mr. Kumar.
