The British Council, UK’s International organisation for educational and cultural relations has announced the Goa Education Trust scholarships to the UK. These scholarships will fund Indians to pursue a Masters in the UK.

This year, Goa Education Trust Scholarship (GET) is open to all Indian nationals with valid Indian passport. Interested candidates can apply and win financial assistance to study in the UK. The Scholarship will fund tuition fees and will contribute towards living expense up to a maximum of GBP 25,000. Preference will be given to Goans.

The Goa Education Trust Scholarship (GET) has been conceptualised by the industrious Dempo and Fomento groups from Goa and is aimed to provide Goans an efficient medium to pursue the best available opportunities in education, in whichever academic fields they choose.

Rob Lynes, Director British Council India said, “We are happy to be a part of The Goa Education Trust Scholarship. The scholarship is aimed at supporting young Indian students to study in top universities in the UK. We continuously want to support the Indian students to enhance their skills by studying in the best UK universities. A lot of students have already benefitted from the Goa Education Trust scholarship and we are positive that this year we’ll see a higher number of applicants.”

“The University of Durham is among the top three institutions in the UK that offer an MA in Applied Linguistics. Apart from having an excellent ranking, it has the best ratings for student support and satisfaction. The programme is meticulously structured, with a strong balance between theory and practise. Durham is a friendly student city, buzzing with a cosmopolitan culture. As a Harry Potter fan, it’s exciting to know that parts of the movies were filmed in the stunning Durham Cathedral. The GET scholarship was the clinching factor in my decision to move to the UK, and has contributed to one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life” says Lara Velho GET scholar 2015 who is currently pursuing Applied Linguistic from The University of Durham, UK.

“This is the sixth year of the Goa Education Trust, and to date we have been delighted to support 23 bright young Goans to access high quality UK education.” advices Manjula Rao, Assistant Director Internationalising, Higher Education British Council

Notes to the Editor:

Goa Education Trust Scholarship (GET) has been conceptualized by the industrious Dempo and Fomento groups from Goa. GET is aimed to provide Goans an efficient medium to pursue the best available opportunities in education, in whichever academic fields they desire. It will provide scholarships to eligible students for their post graduate studies in the United Kingdom in all spheres, fields and departments. Both the groups are well known in Goa as also in other parts of India for their contribution towards social causes ranging from education, medical care and child and women development. Both the groups have long felt the need to provide Goans an efficient medium to pursue the best available opportunities in education, in whatever areas they desire. It is with this intention that the seed of forming a channel for higher education was germinated and it is today that the seed is seeing full bloom with the launch of the Goa Education Trust.
