New Delhi, Delhi, India

India’s youngest and fastest swimmer is Magic Bus’ new friend!

Ishaan Jaffer (16), a national-level swimming champion, will be participating in the upcoming National Swimming Championship to be held in Pune between 13 July and 19 July. He has volunteered to raise funds for Magic Bus’ children.

Magic Bus is a non-profit organisation working with underprivileged children and youth to help them break out of poverty to a life of opportunities. Through this initiative, Ishaan is hoping to raise funds for 66 children who will get the opportunity to be a part of the Magic Bus programme.

Ishaan has several record-breaking stints to his credit being adjudged the fastest swimmer in India under 14 years in 2013. Sharing the belief with Magic Bus that children growing up in poor neighbourhoods deserve a chance to move out of poverty, Ishaan has dedicated his participation in the championship to show his support to Magic Bus’ sports based curriculum.

Pratik Kumar, CEO, Magic Bus, said, “We at Magic Bus, are delighted to associate and receive support from India’s young achiever and a shining star, Ishaan Jaffer, who is not only making us proud as the citizens of this country but is also a true example of a generation that will help drive positive change and shape our country’s future. We wish him good luck for the championship!”

"We need more and more young people to come forward and to be part of the change Magic Bus is trying to bring about in the lives of underprivileged children living in dire poverty.  I believe that if we all do our bit, the situation in India stands a very good chance of changing. Through this championship, I am doing my part in helping Magic Bus in their endeavour,” says Ishaan Jaffer.

Ishaan Jaffer has been swimming since the age of six and competing at the National-level since 2008, winning many competitions. He has won seven gold medals and broken five records at the swimming state meet held in Pune. He was declared the Best Swimmer Maharashtra in the under-17 category. Ishaan strikes the perfect balance between studies and swimming, which helped him score 96% in the ICSE examinations this year.

Maharashtra has its hopes pinned with him for a win, Ishaan also hopes that more people come forward and support his attempt to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children through Magic Bus.
