Accounting for the Future Conference – ACCA’s Global Online Conference Launches with a Focus on 2020

The future working life of finance professionals will be the central theme to ACCA’s (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) three-day Accounting for the Future conference, which is now open for registration.

The event is broadcast from 24– 26 November, and the sessions will be available for six months.

Looking ahead to 2020, the conference is opened by VIP guest speaker Nick Fry, former CEO of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team.

Nick will talk about “What makes for a winning team?”, using his insights from his days in F1. He will make links between the finance profession and the fast-paced and highly competitive world of motor sport and the automotive industry, showing how winning strategies can achieve an organisation’s goals.

Paul Druckman, chief executive of the IIRC will deliver an online lecture called “Why the profession needs to stand up and take its place as the true innovator of the accounting ecosystem in the 21st century.” 

In this timely and engaging lecture, Paul calls on the accountancy profession to take its place in leading the accounting ecosystem into the next stage of its evolution. Druckman sets his arguments in the context of the development of accounting from the father of accounting Luca Pacioli, to the impact of Mervyn King and his work in developing and promoting integrated reporting.

The event will also examine the future of the profession with an engaging keynote lecture by Faye Chua, portfolio head, business insights and Jamie Lyon, portfolio head, business management at ACCA. Called “What the world needs – the future of the profession” their joint presentation is a must for those wondering what the future holds for accounting as a profession with recent reports about robots taking over key jobs from journalism to accountancy.

But concerns persist and further changes and challenges lie ahead.”
