Airtel now Ready for National Mobile Number Portability, Announces Many Firsts Under its DNA of Customer First

• Mobile customers across India can now retain their mobile number while moving between States

• Porting requests within Airtel network to be processed in 24 hours^*

• Airtel customers to enjoy free incoming on roaming while their request is processed

Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”), a leading global telecommunications service provider with operations in 20 countries across South Asia and Africa, today announced that the company is fully ready to launch National Mobile Number Portability.

Extending its spirit of Customer First, the company also introduced many firsts including faster processing of porting requests, free incoming on roaming, balance transfers and carry forward options. With this, mobile customers spread across the country can now easily shift between States without having to change their mobile number. Customers on Airtel, the largest telecommunications network in India can enjoy special offers like requests for porting within Airtel’s network being processed within 24 hours^* and free incoming on roaming once they raise a number portability request until it is processed. Airtel customers can also avail the option of transferring their balance in prepaid or carrying forward their unbilled/billed amount in the case of postpaid while porting their number to the new city.

The process for National mobile number portability is the same as intra-city mobile number portability wherein customers have to just walk-in to an Airtel outlet closest to their new place of residence and follow the Mobile Number Porting (MNP) process as advised.
