Amazon India has chosen Panchkula to pilot its new initiative called Amazon Chai Cart. The initiative aims to spread awareness among local SMEs and sellers on the benefits of selling online and introduce them to the specialised seller services that help them sell more and earn more on the Amazon India marketplace.

For this initiative, Amazon India has decided to go hyper-local and use the ubiquitous habit of drinking chai to connect with the neighbourhood businesses in Panchkula.  The pilot was flagged off in the city on Tuesday and in the first phase will be operational for a week. The Amazon Chai Carts are stationed in & around the local business and shopping districts like sector 7, sector 8 and more.

Drinking chai (tea) is a part of a seller’s daily routine and he / she eagerly looks forward to this daily cup of chai that energises and refreshes him / her to continue with the daily chores. We want to draw a parallel and want to drive conversations with local SMEs and sellers on how they can partner with us and re-energize their existing or new businesses to get nationwide scale and grow profitably,” says Amit Deshpande, Director Seller Services, Amazon India.

Under this initiative, Amazon has deployed several four wheeler mobile carts called ‘Amazon Chai Cart’ which will navigate in the city’s business districts and will serve tea, cold water and lemon juice to business owners, sellers, retailers and SMEs in that area. Each Amazon Chai Cart will have Amazon trained personnel who will have discussions and conversations with interested sellers on the process of selling online, introduce them to the seller specific services like FBA (fulfillment by Amazon), Amazon Easy Ship, etc. and also introduce them to Seller University, Amazon.in’s seller education programs. Interested sellers can also register on the Amazon India marketplace on-the-spot

Amazon India works with sellers of all sizes across India and provides them a robust and scalable e-commerce platform and pay-as-you-go services. To help lift seller capabilities, the company is investing in several areas, key ones among them being Easy Ship (an assisted shipping service that makes it easy for sellers to ship products across India), FBA (a pay-as-you-go fulfillment service wherein Amazon.in  packs, ships and delivers products to customers, manages returns and does customer service on behalf of the sellers ),  setting up of fulfilment centers in locations accessible to sellers, creating a network of third party service providers who can help sellers with launching, managing and growing their business on Amazon and helping sellers to develop skill-sets and tools so that they can grow profitable. Amazon.in recently launched the  Amazon Seller App on Android and iOS mobile phones that make it easy and convenient than ever before for sellers to quickly update inventory and pricing, list new items on Amazon.in, respond faster to customer queries and reach out to Amazon for help thus improving the customer experience, saving time and money and growing profitably - anytime, anywhere from their mobile phones.
