Arena Animation Announces Winners of ‘Creative Minds 2016’

Arena Animation, the leading animation institution in India recently organized the 4th Creative Minds - New Delhi 2016 - an opportunity for students across India to showcase their talent. The event witnessed attendance of over 1000 students from all across North India. 

Creative Minds is a unique competition that offers students a platform to showcase their creative prowess to industry stalwarts, receive insight from the legends of the animation industry, and compete for the title of the winner. This competition which happens across the country, judges students on various categories such as digital illustration, character design and animation, visual effects scene, 3D architectural visualization to name a few.  It provides students the opportunity to learn teamwork and showcase brilliant work within a strict timeframe, thus improving their efficiency.  

Congratulating the winners, Mr. Easo Thampy Matthew, Business Head for Arena Animation, said, “Creative Minds is an initiative that offers a holistic benefit to the students. On one hand they receive quality insight including tip and tricks while using software, and on the other, they receive quick and comprehensive feedback on their work. The jury consisted of Atul Bhatkar, Technical Director, E-Plus Studios and Prashant Nair, Head of Department, Assets, MPC Studios, Bangalore. These industry experts lent their guidance to students and also provided them useful career tips, in order to nurture industry-ready individuals. In this way, students were exposed to the latest industry trends, while at the same time they learnt to apply these advices to the work they had presented. Parallel to the competition, the jury also conducted informative sessions on Visual Effects and 3D Product Packshot for the students and faculty.

According to the FICCI KPMG Indian Media and Entertainment Report 2015, animation, VFX and post-production industry in India is predicted to grow up to Rs. 95.5 billion by 2019 at a CAGR of 16.3%. One of the biggest hurdles in achieving this growth is a serious shortage of skilled workers.

Arena Animation believes that a better future for the Indian animation and VFX industry can only be fueled by skilling the youth and nurturing creative minds and make them industry-ready.
