Magic Bus and Asian Paints Join Hands to Start a Local Advocacy Platform on Children’s Education

A multi-stakeholder platform was started today in Rohtak, Haryana, to work on children’s Right to Education and on youth livelihoods. The platform, brought together by Magic Bus, a national NGO that works with children and youth, in partnership with Asian Paints, saw participation from the Pradhan of eight villages, officials from the Education Department, Health Department, District Child Protection Unit, Principals of Sr. Sec. Schools, Heads of Middle Schools, PE Teachers and Medical Officers.

Explaining the motive behind setting up this local advocacy platform, Dr. Sujeet Ranjan, Magic Bus’ COO, said, “A programme for children can only be successful if we work with their parents, teachers and the community.”

Talking about Magic Bus’ contributions to this initiative, Mr Jagdish Acharya, Advisor, Asian Paints, said, “India has a huge population between the ages of 14-30 years. By running this programme for children, Magic Bus is contributing towards shaping these young people.”

Balraj Nandal, Pradhan of eight villages, Rohtak, agreed to help the School Management Committees: “We must strengthen the School Management Committees by organizing seminars and workshops regularly,” he said.

Mr Virendra Malik, Block Education Officer, assured all possible help to strengthen the School Management Committees in a meaningful manner and replicate the Magic Bus’ model in other Government schools as well.

Two children and two young mentors shared their experience in the Magic Bus programme with all the participants.
