New Delhi, Delhi, India

Mr. Kaneswaran Avili will be stepping down as SpiceJet’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) effective April 10, 2015. Mr. Avili is leaving the company to pursue certain entrepreneurial opportunities that he has been very keen on.

Mr Avili joined SpiceJet on April 1, 2014, and has been a key driving force behind several innovative market stimulation and revenue management efforts that helped drive overall market growth in India while improving SpiceJet’s revenue performance

SpiceJet’s Board of Directors and Management recognizes the significant contributions made by Mr. Avili over the past one year that made flying more affordable for more Indians than ever before, and thanks him for his contributions.

Kanesh helped create the “SpiceJet Effect”, which through demand stimulation and the refusal to accept half-empty aircraft flying around especially in low season, has galvanized the entire Indian aviation market into high growth mode while at the same time helping improve revenue performance. The “SpiceJet Effect” has enabled more Indians to fly than ever before, including many first-time flyers. Kanesh also helped drive certain cost efficiencies in terms of staffing productivity, which also contributed positively to the bottom line. We wish Kanesh the very best for the entrepreneurial opportunities he is planning to pursue,” said Mr. Sanjiv Kapoor, Chief Operating Officer, SpiceJet Ltd.

I wish to thank the Board and management of SpiceJet for being open to new ideas during my tenure. It has been a life changing experience for me personally and glad that I contributed to SpiceJet to help it improve revenue performance and reduce costs. Sanjiv and I worked closely together to drive demand stimulation and create the “SpiceJet Effect” that has driven record growth in the industry. Our founder and promoter Mr. Ajay Singh has been a great inspiration for me to make this move to pursue entrepreneurship due to his bold decisiveness in returning to SpiceJet and his innovative thinking demonstrated since he has taken over the company,” said Mr Kaneswaran Avili, outgoing Chief Commercial Office, SpiceJet.

The verticals that were under Avili will now report directly to Sanjiv Kapoor, SpiceJet’s Chief Operating Officer, through their respective department heads. Cargo will report to GP Gupta, SpiceJet’s Chief Administrative Officer.

Avili has worked for 13 years in the highly competitive world of low cost airlines in Asia, and was part of the start up team of Air Asia in 2001.
