NASSCOM Aims Seamless Growth from Germany GICs Based in India; Announces Launch of NASSCOM Germany Council

National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today announced the launch of NASSCOM Germany Council to focus on the interests of Germany GICs based in India and encourage a conclusive growth for both the nations. The NASSCOM Germany Council was announced on the sidelines of the two-day GIC (Global In-House Center) conclave in Chennai, in the presence of Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM, Mr. Gerd Hoefner, Managing Director, Siemens Technology and Services. The aim of the council will be to provide an exclusive platform for Germany based GICs to interact with each other, gauge various dynamics that will encourage Germany GICs to grow in the country and also address various challenges at policy level as well as other matters that effect the growth of Germany GICs in the country.

 

Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM said, “NASSCOM Germany Council will help us to identify growth enablers and address various challenges for GICs in the country. With this initiative we also aim to undertake activities which will make India a favorable destination for more GICs in Germany willing to expand globally and recommend on policies which will enable a seamless ecosystem of operations to address immigration, taxation and partnering with the government.”

 

Mr. Gerd Hoefner, Managing Director, Siemens Technology and Services said, “During the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing visit to Germany, he announced how eager India is to do business with German companies, encouraging investors with easier, more predictable tax laws and simpler procedures. At this point, creating a forum for a German GIC Council is a good move. For companies like us that have been in India for over a decade, as well as new German firms looking at setting up GICs here, being a part of the NASSCOM Germany GIC Council will give us a platform to voice our opinions and suggestions to make the Indian environment more conducive to long-term business partnerships. I look forward to being a part of this forum that can help us be more successful and strengthen Indo-German collaboration in the Technology and IT& ITES sectors.”

 

India is one of the leading locations for GICs with 48 per cent share of new set-ups globally, playing an important role in growth of Indian IT-BPM industry and the GIC exports stood at USD 19 billion by end of FY2015. At present there are about 1000+ GICs spread across tier I/II/III cites and employs about 7,00,000 people in the country. Going forward NASSCOM aims to undertake similar initiatives to work closely with specific country based GICs and create various platforms to aims to seamlessly ‘Collaborate, Connect and Co-create’.
