NIPM Assam Chapter & Dibrugarh University Organized 6th HR & Industry-Academia Meet on CSR & Sustainable Development

Keeping in mind the prime objective of reinforcing the Industry-Academia Interaction, the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) Assam Chapter in association with Dibrugarh University organized the 6th HR & Industry-Academia Meet for the second time on the theme Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainable Development” on 30th of August, 2014 at Dibrugarh University under the auspices of CMS, Dibrugarh University. This was also a part of Golden Jubilee Celebration of NIPM, Assam Chapter.

The power-packed One-day Programme saw presentations, discussions and deliberations on the theme from mix of participants from Industry and Academia. The meet started with the welcome address by Shri Dipayan Barua, Chairman, NIPM, Assam Chapter & GM (HR), OIL. Key Note speech was given by Prof. AK Buragohain, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and Chief Guest for the meet, he stressed on the role of academia and new initiatives taken by Dibrugarh University in particular in meeting the requirements of the industry.

Shri BP Bakshi, Advisor, NIPM, Assam Chapter who is a pioneer in HR & Industrial Development in the country was felicitated with the NIPM Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifetime contribution and outstanding services to the growth and prosperity of the NIPM, Assam Chapter and the Society as a whole.

Prof. P. Bezborah, Vice-Chairman, NIPM, Assam Chapter & Director, CMS, Dibrugarh University and Shri Rajeev Kalita, Vice-Chairman, NIPM, Assam Chapter & GM(HR), IOCL(AOD) both representing Academia & Industry respectively highlighted the strong connection between Industry-Academia partnership and CSR & Sustainable Development.

The deliberations struck a chord with the invited guests Shri NC Deka, GM(ER), OIL and Shri VK Verma, GM(HR), ONGC who provided their perspectives on the theme, the way ahead and why the same is  important for sustainable growth. It was followed by two excellent Presentations on the theme by Ms. Sabeena Chowdhury of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and Ms. Nayana Madhu Dutta of Oil India Ltd.

HRQ- the Open Business Quiz was also organized like the previous meet which was conducted by Shri Arunjyoti Baruah, Hony. Secretary, NIPM, Assam Chapter. The enthralling quiz was enthusiastically participated by all present. Finally, expressing sincere gratitude to the Dibrugarh University for organizing and hosting the event successfully and all the Participants from both Industry & Academia including students for their active participation, Shri Anirban Bharali, Hony. Addl. Secretary, NIPM, Assam Chapter offered the Vote of Thanks. The programme was anchored by Shri Biraj Hazarika of OIL.

The Meet was a great Convergence of people from both Industry & Academia. HR Practitioners from all major Public Sector Companies viz. Oil India Ltd.. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, ONGC, Coal India Ltd, NRL, BCPL etc and Academicians and students from Dibrugarh University had actively participated in the NIPM HR Meet.
