Gurgaon, Haryana, India

SpiceJet on Sunday operated three flights with Boeing 737-800 aircraft between New Delhi and Kathmandu to assist the authorities in evacuation operation from Kathmandu airport, and transported over 500 passengers out of Kathmandu on these flights.

SpiceJet operated two scheduled flights -- SG 041 and SG 045—and one special relief flight SG 8451 on New Delhi-Kathmandu-New Delhi sector. Due to aftershocks and weather related issues at Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu, flights were delayed by few hours but SpiceJet was able to operate these services safely and successfully.

With these three flights, SpiceJet was the only Indian LCC with the maximum numbers of flight on Sunday to Kathmandu. Flights departed from New Delhi carried relief material, medicines as well as select media persons and personnel from NGOs. Many of whom were flown for free.

On April 27, 2015 SpiceJet is operating two scheduled flights and one additional relief special flight on New Delhi - Kathmandu sector.  Fares have been capped at moderate levels up-to April 30, and SpiceJet has empowered its station manager at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan Airport to take a call on carrying ‘needy’ passengers at a free of cost basis.  SpiceJet is also waiving all change and cancel fees until April 30.

SpiceJet has created a special email ID earthquakerelief@spicejet.com for accredited NGOs and relief organizations to contact the airline for free carriage of relief materials, doctors and rescue personnel to Kathmandu.
