TCS Recognized for Leading CSR Practices

  • Independent CSR advisory body awards TCS its top accolade for the third year running

  • Achievement reflects TCS’ holistic approach to environmental sustainability, procurement and supplier policies and its commitment to the communities it operates in

 

Tata Consultancy Services (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, has been awarded the Gold Rating Certificate by EcoVadis, a world - leading independent CSR Advisory firm. This is the third year in a row that TCS has received the top accolade and a reflection of the firm’s holistic approach to CSR across environmental sustainability, labor practices, business operations and responsible & sustainable procurement & supply chain processes.

 

Headquartered in Paris, EcoVadis is the first collaborative platform providing sustainability ratings and performance improvement tools for global supply chains. EcoVadis’ easy-to-use CSR scorecards help procurement teams to monitor supplier environmental, social and ethical practices across 150 purchasing categories and 110 countries. Over 130 industry leaders use EcoVadis to reduce risk, drive innovation and foster transparency and trust among over 30,000 trading partners.

TCS’ achievements on sustainability and community engagement include reducing its carbon footprint by 43.3% since the base financial year of 2007-08, including a 6% decrease in CO2 emissions last year alone. And as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the communities it operates in TCS has over 50 community initiatives in place which have engaged almost 1.2 million people globally.

 

As part of the EcoVadis evaluation, TCS was scored in the Computer Programming, Consultancy and Related Activities category and in achieving Gold certification was rated in the top 1% for environmental CSR activities and supplier practices and in the top 4% for labour policies. Overall TCS was among the top 2% across all measurement categories when measured against all suppliers and companies in its category.
