Vodafone IoT and Ecolibrium Energy to Deliver Up to 30% Saving in Energy Costs for Industrial Consumers

Every year, Indian industry wastes energy worth an estimated $11 billion, roughly translating to more than INR 735 crore. Vodafone Business Services (VBS), the enterprise arm of Vodafone India, has announced its tie-up with Gujarat-based Ecolibrium Energy, a market leader in Energy Analytics in India to jointly help businesses reduce on energy costs and improve their energy efficiency.

The Vodafone Internet of Things (IoT) Connectivity Platform will help Ecolibrium Energy manage a national IoT network of wireless energy monitoring devices. SmartSense, Ecolibrium’s Software-as-a-Service analytics platform, promises to cut energy costs of industrial users by up to 30% and will be powered by robust connectivity from Vodafone IoT.

How it works?

Highlights

  • Vodafone IoT-powered SmartSense platform to cut energy costs by up to 30% for industrial users

  • Single Vodafone IoT platform to manage national network of SmartSense devices

  • 1000 SmartSense devices to move to Vodafone IoT platform by end of 2016

  • Customers can get a real time view energy consumption and analytics

SmartSense works by connecting sensors to a factory’s energy infrastructure and sends valuable information (such as energy consumption distribution data, temperature, and environmental data) to a central platform on a near real-time basis. Vodafone provides seamless connectivity to each of these sensors so they function efficiently and generate accurate data for better energy monitoring and management.

Powered by Vodafone IoT, SmartSense is fully wireless and can be installed in a matter of few minutes. This will eliminate the need for customers to use multiple SIMs from different service providers, thus preventing the risk of human errors and excessive time consumption for deployment across the entire system.

Previously, a factory would need to send someone out to take meter readings on a regular basis. This was prone to error or delays in compiling data and also failed to detect consumption rates from a specific asset. Now, the Vodafone IoT solution allows Ecolibrium customers to get a near real-time view of energy consumption and analytics to help monitor their demand, energy losses, asset performance and move from scheduled maintenance to data-driven predictive maintenance. And since the solution is cloud-based, customers can create their own alerts and reports, and access the data from anywhere.

Ready for the Future

Ecolibrium trusted the Vodafone platform as Vodafone has been consistently ranked as the global leader in IoT (Machina Research). Vodafone’s IoT Managed Connectivity Platform allows Ecolibrium Energy the capability to scale up its business and move to 1,000 SmartSense devices by the end of 2016. Already overseeing an estimated energy consumption of 1.4 gigawatts with over 100 million data points, Ecolibrium powered by Vodafone IoT, envisions playing a significant role in helping manage energy nationally.

Nick Gliddon, Director, Vodafone Business Services, said, “We are proud to partner with Ecolibrium Energy. We know that reducing energy costs is a high priority for our customers and helping deliver up to 30% reduction in costs is very attractive.  We look forward to building on the great relationship we have forged with Ecolibrium Energy.”

Ecolibrium Energy Founder & CEO, Chintan Soni commented, “India has been a late adopter in optimizing the use of IT in its energy infrastructure. We chose to partner with Vodafone because of the quality of services and the philosophy followed by the company, which has helped us build a strong working relationship to achieve our common objective. The capabilities that the Vodafone IoT Connectivity Platform delivers have convinced us to transition all our devices over to this solution.”
