Vodafone Partners with Delhi Traffic Police to Spread Road Safety Awareness

Organises a walkathon in Connaught Place area highlighting the importance of road safety rules through its awareness campaign ‘Safe Roads Safe Delhi'

Vodafone India Ltd., one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, in its endeavour to promote responsible mobility, has associated with Delhi Traffic Police for a Road Safety Campaign ‘Safe Roads, Safe Delhi’ to educate people in the city about the importance of road safety and observing traffic rules.

As a part of this initiative, Vodafone organised a Walkathon for its employees in Delhi emphasizing the fundamental traffic rules and highlighting the basic precautions a commuter must take while on the move. The Walkathon was jointly flagged off by Dr. Muktesh Chander, Special Commissioner, Traffic, Delhi Police and Mr. Apoorva Mehrotra, Business Head – Delhi, Vodafone India.

The march commenced from Palika Bazar to Baba Khadag Singh Marg. During the walk, Vodafone employees distributed leaflets to citizens and displayed placards to promote the ‘Absolute Safety Rules’ of Vodafone:

  • Never exceed speed limits      

  • Never drive under influence of Alcohol or illegal drugs

  • Always wear a seat belt while driving

  • Always wear a helmet while riding

  • Never use mobile phone while driving

 

In a message, Apoorva Mehrotra, Business Head, Delhi Circle, Vodafone India said, “Vodafone, as a value based organisation, is passionate about people and is committed to achieving the highest standards in health, safety and well-being for all our stakeholders, in the environment that we operate in. We have always believed in reaching out to people and creating awareness on crucial social issues. We work toward promoting these virtues within communities and ensure a safe working environment. An alarming rise in incidents due to road accidents has highlighted the need for disciplined driving and stringent adherence to traffic rules. Vodafone takes this opportunity to urge civilians of the state and those travelling to the city, to observe road safety rules and stay safe”.

 

500 Vodafone employees and Delhi Police officials joined hands forming a human chain around central park and held placards displaying messages for creating awareness about Road Safety. The event also witnessed a street play conducted by the Delhi Police educating people about road safety and the perils of using safety measures while driving.
