Couples and DINKs are looking at making a five day long weekends and opting for SEA destinations. 55% of the holidayers are opting for offbeat destinations as compared to 30% last year and the less explored spots in South East Asia are becoming a hit. Since Europe has always been the favorite travel hub for Indians, destinations like Japan, South Korea, Turkey and Greece which were earlier not chosen in large numbers are now being explored widely. Outbound travel trends:

• Indian travelers are opting largely for niche destinations in Thailand like Koh Samui, Krabi, Chaing Mai and Phuket, Hua Hin, Phi-Phi Islands in Thailand, Langkawi, Penang Island, Malacca and Johor Bahru in Malaysia; Bali, Banda Islands, Yogyakarta, Surabaya in Indonesia and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam; Yamanouchi, Kyoto, Chiyoda, Honshu Island in Japan

• Destinations like Singapore, London, and Hong Kong got an incremental business of 25% for family and DINKS segment

Domestic travel Trends:

• Places like Shimla, Nainital, Lonavala, Coorge Kathmandu, Wayanad, Munnar and Andaman and Nicobar are picking up for this summer. We at Expedia are offering 50% off on a lot of these destinations
